Denying Collins re-election would help put our nation back on track

With every day that passes, Sen. Susan Collins shows more and more that she is just one more soldier in the Donald Trump army. In the past few weeks, Trump has made it absolutely clear that he perceives himself not as an elected president but as a king. He has refused to acquiesce to a single subpoena issued by congressional committees.

He has repeated his mantras “no collusion” and “no obstruction” ad nauseum, despite the fact that both the report issued by Robert Mueller and the opinion of some 800 former federal prosecutors — Republicans and Democrats, conservatives and liberals — have asserted that, but for the Justice Department opinion that a sitting president cannot be indicted, Trump would face multiple charges for obstruction of justice.

Over the past several weeks, William Barr, Trump’s hand-picked attorney general — who received a confirmation vote from Collins — has lied to Congress, suggested that the Federal Bureau of Investigation spied on the Trump campaign and shown himself to be the president’s yes-man rather than the chief law enforcement officer for the nation and its people, as his oath of office demands.

Even more recently, Trump has created a trade confrontation with China that has seen Wall Street financial markets drop hundreds of points a day, resulting in massive decreases in the value of the retirement funds of millions of Americans with little hope that many of those retirees may see their funds restored in their remaining lifetimes.

I rarely watch his show for more than a minute or two depending on the guest panel, but I could have sworn I heard him say that one day. He didn't give a reason though.

Susan Collins is going to hunt me down in Texas? Now I'm concerned and I'll decide what to do about it sometime in the future.
