Judge suspended again for actions in child custody case

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — A Kentucky judge was suspended without pay Tuesday for the second time in about six months for violating judicial rules in a child custody case.

Along with the new 30-day suspension, the state Judicial Conduct Commission also ordered Judge Kathy W. Stein to complete training on "substantive and procedural due process."

Stein, a former state lawmaker, is a family court judge in Fayette County.

She was reprimanded for granting permanent custody without holding an evidentiary hearing and for not delaying the matter so the other party could have a lawyer present, the panel said.
