How will the conservative agenda affect lives of Kentuckians?

FRANKFORT, Ky. — The large work product of the short legislative session that is drawing to an end will affect the lives of Kentuckians in ways large and small — and mostly in ways that big business and the Republican lawmakers have been advocating for years.

Beginning in the 2018-19 school year, parents in some parts of the state may for the first time have the option of sending their kids to a charter school instead of a traditional public school.

Later this year folks in some parts of Jefferson County may be able to throw their yard waste out in plastic bags.

Among the biggest changes, though, are the results of bills passed in the session's first week in January, bills that Republican Gov. Matt Bevin has already signed into law.
