An 18-year-old student at Henry Clay High School in Lexington reportedly died Tuesday when he hit a tree while snowboarding at the Park City Mountain Resort in Utah.
Nathan Burnett, from Lexington, was snowboarding on a beginner slope at the mountain in Park City, Utah, when he went off the trail about 3 p.m. Tuesday and hit a tree, local media reported, citing information from police. ... He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident but died after getting taken by helicopter to a hospital, according to police.
Burnett was a senior at Henry Clay High School in Lexington and had played for two years on the school's baseball team, WKYT reported.
"Theres more important things in life and what we do is just a game. In the grand scheme of things, life is short and you have to take a vantage of it and be thankful for the opportunities that we have, Henry Clay High School baseball coach Jordan Tarrance told the TV station. A lot of the boys were really good friends with Nathan. The baseball family in Lexington is a pretty big family as well. So the Henry Clay family and the Eastern Little League family both lost a big part of that.

Sonny Bono was killed when he crashed into a tree while skiing in South Lake Tahoe, Calif.
Michael Kennedy, son of the late Robert F. Kennedy, died of head and neck injuries after an accident on an Aspen Mountain ski slope.
Kennedy, apparently lost control of one ski and crashed headfirst into a tree.
