Report: Police major in charge of Breonna Taylor officers pressured investigators

Louisville Courier Journal

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville Metro Police major in charge of the officers in the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor improperly inserted herself in the case, "pressuring" investigators for information and questioning their findings, newly released documents show.

An investigative summary of the case written July 2 by Sgt. Jason Vance of the LMPD's Public Integrity Unit said Maj. Kimberly Burbrink's involvement raised red flags.

It also says "investigators voiced concern about" Burbrink attending a May 14 video call to update department leaders about the case, saying she was considered "an informational witness."

Her actions during the call prompted a deputy chief to say afterward it was a mistake to include her.
