6 Louisville judges in quarantine after 2 court workers test positive for coronavirus

Six of the 10 Jefferson County Family Court judges are in self-imposed quarantine after they learned they had been exposed to two court workers who have tested positive for COVID-19.

The judges include Chief Judge Tara Hagerty, who said none of the judges or the court employees have any symptoms of the coronavirus. She said the judges all will be tested.

They will continue to hear cases remotely from home, she said, and district judges will take up some slack by hearing domestic violence cases in which protective orders are being sought.

She said most Family Court cases already were being handled, with the judge in the courtroom but the lawyers and litigants attending remotely, “to reduce the footprint in the courthouse.”
