FLORENCE As a Democrat, Carole Register blended in where she lived and worked in York, Pa.
She found blending in harder when she moved to Florence in Boone County nine years ago.
I kind of feel the Democrats have ground to a halt here, Register said. My neighborhood here is almost totally Republican, which was a real shocker for me when I moved here.

(2,831 posts)good luck with that. i live in the next county over (kenton) and it too is a red neck, republican voting,catholic, anti abortion bastion of neanderthals. it never used to be this way.

im afraid its going to take a pretty conservative democrat to get it back for the party these days...
which is sad.. given that democrats in the district out number republicans.. even still after redistricting in the state (tho the numbers are WAY closer than they used to be... it was 52%-40% in our favor until the new lines... now its 47%-42% in our favor)....
