Bevin, like Trump, harms democracy by tearing down institutions

Gov. Matt Bevin’s most destructive tendency is his penchant to attack, attack, attack — the truth be damned — whenever anything is said or done with which he disagrees.

Retired Kentucky Supreme Court Justice Daniel Venters called him out for it Thursday in an op-ed column that he submitted to the Courier Journal and Lexington Herald-Leader that eviscerated Bevin.

His problem with the governor is how he has attacked the judiciary in an attempt to erode people’s faith in the third branch of government — all to attain his political goals.

Venters was particularly peeved by the governor's reaction to the Supreme Court ruling that struck down Bevin's unconstitutional effort to reform Kentucky's pension law.
