Vehicle hits ballot drop box in Pittsburg; ballots secured, officials say

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Kan. (KOAM) - Election officials say they've secured election ballots after a car crashed into a Crawford County ballot drop box.

According to the Office of the County Clerk, the crash happened on Friday, October 18 at about 5:50 p.m. in the Pittsburg Judicial Center parking lot.

The office states a vehicle was going west and jumped the curb, hitting the ballot drop box. The driver stated that the glare of the sun caused the crash.

Pittsburg Police officers passing by pulled in and initiated an accident report. They also secured the ballots that were in the drop box, according to the Court Clerk Office. At around 6:10 p.m., Crawford County Clerk Lisa Lusker responded to the accident scene and took possession of the sealed ballots.
