SPOTLIGHT RACE: Jason Probst for KS-HD102
Jason Probst was raised in Reno County and has lived in the 102nd Kansas House District for more than 20 years.
Jason graduated from Nickerson High School, Hutchinson Community College and Baker University with a Bachelors of Science in management. He is an alum of Leadership Reno County, and the Kansas Leadership Centers You. Lead. Now. program.
He worked at The Hutchinson News for nearly 15 years, beginning as a production employee on the night shift and eventually becoming a reporter, and later newsroom editor and primary opinion writer. During his time at The News, he steadfastly advocated for the wellbeing of working families who too often struggle to make ends meet. Prior to his work at The News, Jason worked as a machinist at Mega Manufacturing, while furthering his education in the evenings.
As a legislator, Jason has proudly represented residents of the 102nd District. He has advocated for policies that help working families, support our childrens future, and help small businesses thrive.
He has two grown children, Erica and Mitchell, and two granddaughters, Lila and Violet.
Jason is an avid cyclist who enjoys the annual Biking Across Kansas tour of the state, as well as most of the rural highways around Hutchinson. He also enjoys hiking, fishing, and a variety of outdoor activities.
