Politicians denounce Gov. Brownback at Working Kansas Alliance's Labor Day picnic

Politicians and candidates for office gathered Monday at the Working Kansas Alliance’s Labor Day picnic where they recognized the contributions of workers and took aim at Gov. Sam Brownback and President Donald Trump.

Rep. John Alcala, D-Topeka, welcomed Brownback’s impending departure. The governor is slated to become the ambassador at large for international religious freedom in the Trump administration.

“My question to you today is, when are we going to get that S.O.B. out of here to go to work for Trump?” Alcala asked.

His comment was met with a bout of cheers.

Alcala also denounced a recent proposal for some state workers to receive a pay raise if they give up job protections.
