Dubuque County Auditor is going to retire

Denise Dolan is retiring

Dubuque County Auditor Denise Dolan has announced she will retire at the end of her current term on December 31, 2020. She made the announcement at the meeting of the Dubuque County Democratic Central Committee on Tuesday evening.

Dolan, who was appointed County Auditor in October of 1987, has been elected by the voters of Dubuque County eight (8) times.

“Local government is a citizen’s most important level of government. It affects them most directly. It has been an honor to serve Dubuque County’s residents for over 32 years. I’ve had the pleasure to meet and work with so many of them, some as Election Commissioner, many as they served their municipalities and townships, and those who needed assistance related to real estate or other issues. I thank the citizens of Dubuque County for their trust and support.”

“I’ve had the wonderful opportunity, over the years, to work with and be supported by the many great staff members of the Auditor’s office, serve with elected officials at all levels of government, many of whom have become treasured friends, and the many conscientious and hard-working staff in all the of County’s departments.”

The Paywall Hearl...excuse me I meant Telegraph Herald noted how at 32 years Dolan is now the longest serving female elected official in county history.

She'll be a hard act to follow.
