Related: About this forumGrassley says Trump must lift tariffs or risk trade failures
Yeah while I'm sure fornicate face will get right on that Chuck
Iowa Sen. Charles Grassley says Congress won't consider a new trade deal with Mexico and Canada until President Donald Trump lifts tariffs that have prompted other countries to take actions that have hurt U.S. farmers.
Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley answers questions from reporters following a Cedar Rapids event. Grassley just returned from trade talks in China last week.
Speaking Wednesday on a call with reporters, Grassley said Trump must end steel and aluminum tariffs before Congress will ratify a United States-Mexico-Canada trade agreement. Farmers in Iowa and across the country have been hurt by reciprocal tariffs placed on agricultural products, including pork and soybeans.
Grassley says tariffs also could hinder efforts at a trade deal with China.

(63,172 posts)2. IIRC, both Canada and Mexico moved to expand trading partners
shortly after Trump came to power so they wouldn't be in a position that they needed our trade to survive.
Pretty smart moves on their parts. Mexico especially made deals with the EU on farm and dairy products.
I believe both joined that Pacific trade group that Trump backed out of.
So right now they don't need us like they once did.

I hope all the conflicts these repugs face from their constituents are twisting their colons into knots.
