Related: About this forumDefeat Joni Ernst Fund!
Got this email from the Iowa Democratic Party. I am assuming this would be a fund like that established for whoever runs against Susan Collins in Maine. This is actually the second email. The first was Monday:
We do a lot of different fundraising drives here at the Iowa Democratic Party. Whether its a one-day money bomb, end-of-month goal, or the biggest of all: an FEC end-of-quarter goal, we usually know what to expect from our online supporters.
But Ill be honest, we had no idea how this network would respond when we decided to launch our Defeat Joni Ernst Fund. Weve been so pleasantly surprised, though. Because were closing in on 500 individual supporters to this latest fundraising drive!
However, according to our online records associated with this email address, you havent contributed yet. Can you make your first online donation to Iowa Democrats Defeat Joni Ernst Fund today to help us reach 500 supporters who are ready to defeat her in 2020?
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

I know its early in this new election cycle, Dave. But we have some major catching up to do if were going to go toe-to-toe with Ernst, because according to the latest FEC report, Joni Ernst already has over one million dollars in her campaign war chest for her reelection campaign!!
Well never be able to match the Super PACs and millionaire out of state donors that Ernst and the GOP can tap into -- but we have something they dont: the power of people like you.
The momentum is slowly building for a Democrat to defeat Joni Ernst in 2020 -- and reaching 500 individual supporters this early in the campaign who are invested in taking back this seat and the U.S. Senate will send a message to the Republicans that were prepared to make a serious run for Joni Ernsts seat.
So please, click here to help us reach our goal of 500 supporters to our Defeat Joni Ernst Fund. Remember, its not just about how much money we raise, its about showing the power of our grassroots movement.
Thanks,
Jonah

(19,040 posts)It will take someone who knows the state well to be able to talk to those badly hurt by the Trade Tariffs on corn, soybeans, etc. Iowa is largely rural. I have been through it many times.

(63,172 posts)Sure would be nice if that candidate had some money to start with to fight Joni's money from the NRA and the Koch Brothers.
