Our "100 percent pro life governor" signed the heartbeat bill.

Ugh. Fucking ugh, in fact.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds is set to sign the most restrictive abortion law in the country on May 4.

Senate File 359 is an Act that prohibits and requires certain actions relating to a fetus and providing penalties.

The legislation, once signed, will prohibit doctors from performing abortions after they've detected fetal heartbeats in pregnant women.

to determine the presidents.

About time, really. Rotating regional primaries is the way to go, not to mention that caucuses disenfranchise so many voters, not only in Iowa but in all the states that hold them.

Why did she do this?

OK, maybe because she's a Republican AND pro life. Stupid reasons.

I wonder if she has any children of her own. Or if she ever suffered a miscarriage.

Disgusting.

Planned Parenthood is planning a lawsuit against this.

They know they'll lose in the lower courts, so the point is to get it to the Supreme Court.

By the time it gets there, the Court may be even more right-leaning than it is now and would be amenable to reversing Roe.

Be afraid.

Be very afraid.

One of her campaign co-chairs is Steve King.
She is like a caricature of the Republican woman.
She will do what she is told to do just like her friend, Joni Ernst.

Next month she will release a proclamation stating that it is ok for Bible reading on county courthouse property. It's an annual event.

With the state run by the Kochs and teavangelicals and with those who oppose them with no voices whatsoever.

I know I sound like a broken record but I'm pretty much at the point where I'm going to move. I think I'll see what happens in November first but if it's anything less than a blue wave I think I'm done.

I am so sick and tired of this autocratic attempt to usurp a woman's right to her own sexual autonomy, I could puke blood. There are genuine, serious problems in our states and our nation right now, but all the right wants to do is control a woman's body and her choices. They're like two dogs stuck together on the lawn that can't be separated with a firehose.

ENOUGH ALREADY. No woman, anywhere, having an abortion is threatening your life, you phony christianists. Mind you own goddam business. Women are not baby machines. You hypocrites claim to be pro-life, yet once that child is born, you want nothing to do with supporting programs that care for that child.

Turn your laser like focus on education, health care, the integrity of the vote, care for the elderly, housing, the disabled, but no, apparently these issues pale in comparison to their need to continue to keep restricting a woman's right to make her own decisions.

And you wonder why people are leaving religion in the dust.
