Theresa Greenfield comes up short of signatures on nominating petitions in Ia-03

Strange set of circumstances - her campaign manager of all people, forged signatures on her nominating petitions. So she threw them all out and made a valiant effort to collect all 1790 GOOD signatures in one day.

That's a shame.

Story here:
https://iowastartingline.com/2018/03/19/greenfield-comes-up-just-short-shakes-up-3rd-district-race/

Two short months ago, there were seven candidates running in the Democratic primary for Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District. Only three remain set to appear on the ballot as of today, though Theresa Greenfield is vowing to push on after coming up just short in her last-ditch effort to collect new petition signatures in one day. There may be some legal options, though those are unclear at the moment, or she may just end up running a write-in campaign for the primary.

The Secretary of State’s office confirmed that Greenfield’s second submission of petitions contained 1,592, just 198 under the 1,790 required signatures for 3rd District candidates. Greenfield scrambled last Friday to re-do her entire petitions after her campaign manager admitted Thursday evening that he had forged a number of the signatures.

She had a real shot at making it happen.

Of course, she did the right thing. Voided the first petitions and fired the campaign manager. A repub would have just let it slide.

I am encouraged that other campaigns stepped up to help her. Haven't seen much in-fighting so far.

I had hopes that Greenfield might be the one.
We don't live over there, but no one deserves David Young.

Can Axne beat Young?

We have our county convention this weekend. Maybe she or one of her people will be there.

Got to know Austin Frerick through some odd circumstances.
Really like him and his ideas, but there was almost no chance for him. I was thinking Greenfield had a great shot. Damn

Nice guy, great ideas, and super motivated. He'll be a great asset for us somewhere.
