Nine Democrats running for South Bend mayor
SOUTH BEND There's a packed field of nine Democratic candidates for South Bend mayor this year.
The Tribune is profiling them this week, beginning today with three long-shot candidates, none of whom have worked in public service or held elected office. They are Shane Inez, Salvador Rodriguez and Richard Wright.
Beginning Tuesday, profiles on five other candidates Lynn Coleman, Jason Critchlow, Oliver Davis, James Mueller and Regina Williams-Preston will be published one each day in alphabetical order.
One candidate readers will see on the ballot whose story will not appear in The Tribune is Will Smith. Smith was arrested last month in connection with a felony theft charge in Miami County. A few days later, he was also charged with felony auto theft in Starke County. If hes convicted, state law would bar him from holding elected office.
