BELVIDERE, Ill. (WIFR) -- More layoffs are coming at the Belvidere's Fiat Chrysler plant, a spokesperson for FCA Group tells 23 News on behalf of the plant.
This comes after new scheduling change took effect today, eliminating the 'C' shift and slashing 1,371 jobs.
FCA Spokesperson Jodi Tinson released the following statement:
"Following a full review of its operations at the Belvidere Assembly Plant, FCA has determined that additional staffing actions were needed to properly align with the plants return to a two shift operating pattern that began today. As a result, the Company notified the state of Illinois, the city of Belvidere and the UAW today that the total number of people who could be potentially impacted is being revised to 1,403."
Some of the affected Chrysler employees were notified of the layoffs by calls attributed to plant manager Tomasz Gebka.
