In 2010's gubernatorial race against Bill Brady, southern Illinois' Democrats provided Pat Quinn with enough votes that, when combined with his massive Cook County and Metro East margins, he was able to eek out a victory. On Thursday, the regional (south of I-64) newspaper, the Southern Illinoisan, endorsed Gov. Quinn's reelection effort.
While the endorsement was hardly 'ringing' or enthusiastic, it was nonetheless a thoughtful, sober exposition of why Gov. Quinn is clearly the better candidate.
