MLK Parade Bursting With Civil Unity Messages

HONOLULU -- It's been 49 years since Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech on the steps of Lincoln Memorial, leaving a lasting impression on the nation.
The glorified civil right's activist's spirit is still thriving in Hawaii after all these years, and some 2,000 marchers spotlighted King's equality platform on Kalakaua Avenue, Monday.
"Everybody should have a dream. Everyone should have a vision or focus. But if you focus on it, it's an accomplishment. You can accomplish it, you can achieve it," MLK Parade Marcher Jarrard Galbreath said.

"We've come together as kanaka to stand, to honor ke akua, to honor Dr. King and our Queen Liliuokalani, and all warriors of peace and justice and aloha," MLK Parade Marcher Moanike'ala Sitch said.
