Soon for Sale: Obama's New Winter White House

WASHINGTON — You're out of luck if you're hoping to rent the Obamas' 2011 Winter White House after they leave Hawaii next week, but you can buy it if you have $7.9 million to burn.
That's according to realtor David Dunham, who manages the 33,000-square-foot property, which he says will be listed for sale in January. Dunham called the first family's stay at the one-story, five-bedroom, six-bath house a "one-time trick."
Dunham joked to Civil Beat on Thursday that renting to Obama was "a favor because he had no place to go."

But Dunham did specify that the Obamas rented the house for one month even though they are only in Hawaii for about two weeks. A Civil Beat investigation earlier this year revealed that the Obamas' 2010 stay was illegal under Oahu's long-standing ban on short-term rentals.
