Augusta driver's bureau employee accused of fraud and bribery

A former employee of the driver’s services bureau entered a not guilty plea Friday to charges that include bribery and violation of oath by a public official.

Gladys Shepard Williams was named in a nine-count indictment this month that accuses her of issuing fake driver’s licenses in 2003, 2010 and 2011. The indictment also accuses Williams of accessing the Department of Driver Services’ computer system to obtain photographs which she gave to a third party.

Williams pleaded not guilty in Richmond County Superior Court to four counts of violation of oath by a public officer, three counts of computer invasion of privacy, and one count each of computer forgery and bribery.
