Jill Stein fails to make Georgia ballot
Despite the disqualification this week of Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein, Georgia voters will still be able to choose from among at least six candidates in November.
The states presidential ballot has now been set for the major political and third-party candidates in Georgia, including Republican nominee Donald Trump, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson.
Additionally, three write-in candidates have already given notice to be on the ballot, with the possibility of more since the states deadline for write-in candidates to file notice isnt until Sept. 6. The three write-ins so far: Cherunda Fox of Detroit; Robert Buchanan of Virginia; and someone named Sandra Wilson.
The state notified Green Party officials Tuesday that Stein did not make the cut after officials determined the party had too few verified signatures on its petition to be on the ballot. A federal judge earlier this year significantly lowered the number of signatures required to make the ballot in Georgia, from tens of thousands to just 7,500.
The party has five days to appeal.
