According to the Secretary of States Office, a total of 2,564,067 Republicans have already voted in Florida as of the close of business Tuesday, putting Democrats in a 667,959 raw vote hole.
While there is no guarantee that registered Republicans (or Democrats, for that matter) are voting for their own partys candidates, the numerical edge for Republicans continues to build as time runs out for the opposition party to close the gap.
Republicans are deriving their strength from a massive edge in early, in-person voting, casting a majority of the 3,340,065 votes at polling places throughout the states 67 counties.
While the 1,721,624 GOP ballots arent quite doubling the 904,239 cast by Democrats, that lopsided tally is the story of the election thus far.
Despite having no get-out-the-vote operation for no-party and minor party candidates, those unaligned voters are showing up, with 76,677 third party registrants voting in person along with 637,525 no-party registrants.

(2,986 posts)that correctly? If so, couldn't a large number be voting for Harris, changing the scenario? Especially if 10 percent or more of the 1.7 million Republicans voted for Harris, then the early voting tells a different story.

(3,717 posts)Another encouraging point I have heard is that a significant portion of the Republican early voters are ones who voted on election day in prior elections. Where the Democratic early voters are ones that typically voted early in prior elections.
Meaning that the typical pattern of Republicans outnumbering Democrats on election-day votes may be turned on its head this time.
I have been amazed to see Republicans I work with talking about having already voted when in previous elections they were ranting about how you should only be allowed to vote on election day.

(28,707 posts)Well, that's a bit unexpected, though the GOP has been pushing early voting a lot harder in the past few months.

(2,290 posts)Would it be nice if Harris won Florida? Yes, absolutely. However, I think it is unlikely in the extreme, and if somehow it looked like there was even a chance of it happening, DeSantis' goons will be out in force to make sure that those votes mysteriously disappear.
