Driver hospitalized in critical condition after crashing into Potomac, 2 others hurt

There are many links with videos in these articles. The airboat in the picture in the ARLnow article is probably the one used to resuce a deer stuck on the ice in the Potomac earlier that day.

Hat tip, ARLnow.

WASHINGTON — After crashing through a railing on the Arlington Memorial Bridge and into the Potomac a driver was taken to the hospital Thursday night and was in "critical life threatening condition," according to DC Fire and EMS.

Rescue divers plunged into the Potomac River waters during snowy 30-degree weather Thursday night, pulling a person out of a car that had submerged after crashing into another car and then over a section of railing on the bridge.

Two other people were hurt in the crash. One of those people were taken to the hospital "with minor injuries," according to DC Fire and EMS. The other injured person had apparently refused treatment. ... Their car had apparently been involved in the crash that happened before the submerged car had veered off of the bridge.

"Vehicle into Potomac River beneath the Arlington Memorial Bridge," DC Fire and EMS said at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday as crews descended on the scene.
