Four House races that could determine Delaware's future

If just half of four competitive races go their way in next week’s election, Democrats could win a supermajority in Delaware’s House of Representatives, allowing them to unilaterally reshape the nature of state politics for years to come.

While most of Delaware is focused on the campaign for governor, the potential legislative advantage from these consequential House races – stretching from Milford to the Newark suburbs – could allow Democrats to ignore Republican input when passing new laws.

But, to do that, they would also have to hold onto their current advantage in the State Senate.

Right now, House Democrats require two Republican defectors to approve any constitutional amendment – a scenario that requires approval by two-thirds of all legislators.
