Connecticut to tax animal adoptions

Last edited Mon May 22, 2017, 12:29 PM - Edit history (1)

The CT Senate is discussing SB 130 which will impose a 5% surcharge on all animal adoptions. This will cost small rescue organizations between $5000-$6000 a year, which will prevent them from rescuing dogs and cats that would otherwise be euthanized.

Note that only HALF of the money collected will go to the Second Chance Large Animal Rehabilitation Program, the rest will go into the General Fund and there is no guarantee that the politicians won't take the money out of the Second Chance program at a later date and put it back into the General Fund.
