Annual bicylist hate LTEs in the Denver "Post."
Wednesday's Denver "Post" (more of a pamphlet than a newspaper) contained the annual bicyclist hate letters. You know, the usual complaints about stop signs yadda yadda yadda. While I advocate extreme courteousness from bicyclists toward pedestrians, complaints about bicyclists is a little hard to swallow in the face of the extremely bad drivers in this state. Everyone has seen them.
On Wednesday, I witnessed a PT Cruiser convertible doing 70 around dead-man's curve on Quebec St. in Thornton, CO. The driver was so "skilled" that he took up both lanes of the road. Fortunately I had stopped in the meager shoulder and sadly witnesses this extremely selfish act. Later I saw a blue corvette going east doing 70 in the construction zone on highway 7 at York Street. Given that the shoulder is partially blocked by construction, no one should be going well over the speed limit in this "fines doubled" zone. Sadly the cops were not around. These were just two examples of very bad drivers in Colorado. Instead of complaining about bicyclists, people should be recording license plates and reporting bad drivers.
