As part of his declaration, the Colorado lawmaker and former Democratic campaign chief also unveiled a new legislative proposal that Bennet says will strengthen the deal while steering more money to Israel for its national defense.
"Our primary objectives are to prevent Iran from having a nuclear weapon, make sure Israel is safe and, if possible, avoid another war in the Middle East," said Bennet in a statement that was released first to The Denver Post. "This agreement represents a flawed, but important step to accomplish those goals."

Guess I'll have to write and thank him. He may even lose his seat. Two Republican senators, I just threw up in my mouth.

(15,100 posts)You didn't even have the political courage to support the deal until it was obvious it was going to pass, and only THEN did you say OK, I support it, when your precious support would not hurt you in the next election.

(27,208 posts)because the alternative was Ken Buck. Pretty unthinkable! Now, I think only a miracle will save us from a second teabagger senator. Maybe that miracle is Bernie? I don't know, mostly Republicans where I live, quite conservative to all out crazy. I hate to be in a position to have to back Bennet again.

(15,100 posts)but I was at an Arapahoe County Democrats dinner last Saturday, and Carroll announced she was going to run against the evil cyborg Mike Coffman. You're right, though. Maybe Bernie's political revolution will cause another crop of more progressive Dems to rise in Colorado. We'll be the better for it, that's for sure.
