NoCo task force investigating if fatal Loveland shooting is linked to Windsor, I-25 cases

Authorities are investigating if the fatal Loveland shooting late Wednesday of a 65-year-old man is connected to the deadly May shooting of a Windsor bicyclist and the April shooting of a woman driving on Interstate 25.

Police in Loveland say they are working with a task force investigating the two previous shootings — which authorities say are connected — to see if this latest incident is linked.

Officers were called Wednesday night just before 11 p.m. to the area of East First Street and St. Louis Avenue on reports of a bleeding man lying on the sidewalk.

"When officers arrived, they performed (resuscitation) measures for the man but were unsuccessful," police said in a news release Thursday. "The responding personnel determined the man had been shot."

I guess, any of us can be targets of random violence at any time, but I have to say it only underscores in my mind the idiocy of gun policies in this country. And, THAT makes me very angry.

That said, I am always with my furry baby when I am out walking and if anything happened to me, I'd surely want her taken care of. To that end, and for those who don't know, if you have an iphone, the apple health app gives you an option to fill in very basic immediate data that is ACCESSIBLE EVEN WITH THE PHONE LOCKED (shows up on the locked/emergency screen). Since you can control what shows up there (and I don't really have health issues to complete), I filled in several emergency contacts and what to do with my dog if found with me (or conversely, if not found with me).

Not to be macabre, but I do think this is a feature that many don't know about.

i'll let my friends with iphones know about that.

i usually don't go any further south than horsetooth, but i do take a lot of solo walks in the natural areas on east prospect (i rarely see other people) and leave my phone in my car. i should probably start taking it with me.
