Break down the US into nation states.
Just like what happened to the old USSR.

I have honestly more faith in the Republic of California than I do in the current arrangement with an Oligarchy and Madman and the agenda that they have.

We will be a group of countries located in the same area.
With a common language.

I don't have a problem with it.

But we will no longer be a superpower or a prestigious, respected country.
It is the death of the United States.
Which is what Putin wants.

This is obviously what the GOP wants.
So it may be where we end up.

I agree with you that Putin and other opponents of the US would have schadenfreude and revel in the end of the “United” states. But the reality is that has been in effect already happening and even if in name only, the current Government led by a convicted felon who is systematically destroying our entire structure and stability- is giving them great joy.

I am as many Californians who love our state and know it’s a special place. We want to protect it along with its beauty and on human rights and civil rights and the health and well being of our citizens. We want our communities thriving, healthy and safe. We want our children educated and our citizens having clean air, clean water and being fed healthy foods. We want good paying jobs with fair wages, affordable housing and healthcare. We value diversity, equality and inclusion. Egalité, fraternity, liberte! Facing climate change and so many other issues, we especially after the wild fires and the reality of facing the threat of fires and earthquakes that we need to build and be prepared. We pay more taxes and money to the US federal government than we get back.

I have no problem with paying taxes when I know that they go to providing for the services and infrastructure and the bettering of our society. I will however not pay these monies to a Tyrannical Dictator wanna-be King who is enriching his friends and cronies and threatens and punishes and withholds funds unless we follow his commands. Or be threatened even with military action against us?

No taxation without representation means something

I am absolutely furious to know that we have seniors, children and other citizens who were facing that their much needed assistance was being threatened. That headstart programs were threatened. Veterans programs including suicide prevention programs halted. Medicaid funding halted. Domestic violence shelters stopping. Much more.

I am willing to bet that the majority of Californians would rather send their check to their own state to taking care of our own and having a thriving society and economy than be abused and threatened by TCF and his MAGA cult. And whether it’s under Governor Newsom - or even better - Governor Harris - we could and would thrive and be all the better than what we are facing now under Project 2025 MAGAmerica.

I have nothing in common at all with MAGAs.
And they disgust me.

I would be fine with the US splitting into two countries.

But that is the end of the USA. Which perhaps it deserves.

If the US wants to go to the dark side and act out the evil side of human nature,
then I don't want to be a part of it any longer.

for being too kooky.

Seriously? The California initiative process allows this as subject matter?

Waste of time. Tantrum extraordinaire.

In response to Trump trying to cut off FEMA aid to CA, and ICE invasion of CA. And Trump is dumb enough to believe it. Call his bluff.

Nor will any other state.

Every few years some state, or some people in a state, will make noises about seceding. Never happens. Never even goes past people talking about it.

Once you become a state you just can't quit and if you do the Fed has every Constitutional right to bring you back into the fold, with the full force of the federal military if a State refuses. That's why these calls by any States to secede, even if its just bloviating, are not only ridiculous, they are dangerous. This is the kind of shit that makes the Fascist Fat Cats of the world smile with a wide Cheshire grin.

Simple non-cooperation is a start.

Trump is writing a lot of checks he can't cover. The ideology of the Trump cult is utterly bankrupt. Those states that eagerly accept these checks will suffer the most when they bounce.
