These Bay Area pols are using Kamala Harris' messaging. That doesn't mean she supports them
San Francisco Mayor London Breed and Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price have two things in common: Both are invoking Vice President Kamala Harris signature line from her presidential campaign: Were not going back. Both share another trait: Neither is likely to be endorsed by Harris, the former San Francisco district attorney, Oakland native and Alameda County prosecutor.
While a VP nod could provide both candidates a jolt given Harris rising popularity among Democrats, young people, women and Black voters, doing so could be too politically treacherous for Harris.
Nevertheless, Breed invoked Harris when she dropped one of the vice presidents most popular campaign speech staples during her closing remarks at this months Chronicle/KQED-sponsored mayoral debate.
Do we agree on everything that I do? I understand that we have had challenges in the past, Breed said. But you know that I know how to do this job. I will always put this city first. And like our vice president has said, Were not going back.
