Benton County couple allegedly attempt to sell baby for beer, money

BENTON COUNTY, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) A Benton County couple has been arrested on charges of attempting to sell their two-month-old baby for a six-pack of beer and a $1,000 cashiers check, according to court documents.
Darien Urban, 21, and Shalene Ehlers, 20, the babys parents, were arrested by the Benton County Sheriffs Office on Sept. 21. Both face felony charges of endangering the welfare of a minor and attempting to negotiate the relinquishment of a minor for adoption.
On Saturday, September 21, the manager of the Hide Away Campground contacted the Benton County Sheriffs Office (BCSO) to report an incident involving fiancées Darien Urban and Shalene Ehlers.
According to an affidavit by Detective Wes Grube, who is leading the investigation, witnesses revealed that Urban and Ehlers wrote a letter granting custody of their baby to Cody Martin in exchange for money.
