A major monsoon storm rocked the Tucson community late Thursday, July 25, leading to power outages, utility poles down and swift-water rescues.

The Tucson Fire Department said it responded to 11 rescue calls starting at 7:45 p.m. The TFD said most were just stranded vehicles, but they did have three swift-water rescues at:

Fontana Avenue and Bilby Road
Tucson Boulevard and East Kleindale
16th Avenue and District

We are a couple of hundred yards from the the Rillito which ran bank to bank flashflood style. Hella lightning and thunder actually made the pictures rattle on the walls! Boxes are various Weather Service warnings and alerts. (Which, BTW gives the opportunity to remind everyone that these would disappear or cost you if Project 2025 plan to eliminate NOAA and privatize the weather service has its fascist oligarch way.)

that usually cools things down. I'm east 50 miles and higher elevation but lived in Tucson for a few years in the 80s. plus one set of Grandparents lived there all my life. husband grew up there. youngest son is in South Tucson.
