Madam President: The most memorable fictional female US Presidents in film & TV

The US elections are less than a week away, and we don't know about you, but we're trying to preserve our sanity and keep our stress levels low by rewatching Veep - the fantastic HBO political comedy created by Scottish satirist Armando Iannucci.

The show, based on fictional vice-president Selina Meyer who ends up becoming POTUS, earned Louis-Dreyfus six Emmy Awards in the titular role. It ended in 2019 but viewership of the comedy has gone through the roof since Harris’s run was announced.

President Mackenzie "Mac" Allen (played by Geena Davis) in ‘Commander in Chief’ (2006)

President Caroline Reynolds (played by Patricia Wettig) in 'Prison Break' (2006)

President Allison Taylor (played by Cherry Jones) in '24' (2008)

President of the United States (played by Stephanie Paul) in 'Iron Sky' (2012)

1. Polly Bergen in Kisses for my President?

These durn whippersnappers think they invented everything! Polly Bergen deserves a mention as an early portrayal of a woman president in Kisses for my President.

Note: I haven't seen this movie since a little kid. My guess is it's misogynistic as all get out with all the common tropes about women in the '60s.

Polly Bergen played the first female president in that stupid movie, which was actually exactly the opposite of "memorable".
