"Saved by the Bell" is 30 years removed from its debut, but the kids from Bayside are still as close as your local DVD dealer.

Feel old yet? “Saved by the Bell,” which debuted Aug. 20, 1989, is turning 30.

That means those kids — Zack, Kelly, Slater, Lisa, Jessie and Screech — from Bayside High are in their 40s. Try not to dwell on that. Instead, here are 10 things to know in honor of the TV series’ 30th anniversary:

My local DVD dealer? Uhhh, there's something I need to tell you, Jimmie.

Saved by the Bell

Genre: Teen sitcom
Original network: NBC
Picture format: NTSC (480i)
Original release: August 20, 1989 – May 22, 1993

Saved by the Bell is an American television sitcom that aired on NBC from 1989 to 1993. A retooling of the Disney Channel series Good Morning, Miss Bliss, the show follows a group of high school friends and their principal. Primarily focusing on lighthearted comedic situations, it occasionally touches on serious social issues, such as drug use, driving under the influence, homelessness, remarriage, death, women's rights, and environmental issues. The series starred Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Dustin Diamond, Lark Voorhies, Dennis Haskins, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, Elizabeth Berkley, and Mario Lopez.

The show spawned two spin-off series: Saved by the Bell: The College Years (1993–1994), a primetime series that follows several of the characters to college, and Saved by the Bell: The New Class (1993–2000), a Saturday morning series that follows a new group of students at Bayside High School. The series also spawned two TV movies, Saved by the Bell: Hawaiian Style in 1992 and Saved by the Bell: Wedding in Las Vegas in 1994.

In recent years, Saved by the Bell has been classified as educational and informational. The show was named one of the "20 Best School Shows of all Time" by AOL TV.

It would probably constitute cruel and unusual punishment if I were to include a video. The thread just wouldn't be the same without it, though, would it? {edited} The video has been yanked. Maybe I'll look for another. Maybe not.

For some reason, I had at one time (maybe I still do) a multiple-DVD box set of several episodes. I must have found it in a trash pile, as I would never have paid money for it.

Back-to-back-to-back episodes of Saved by the Bell show up on Sunday mornings on MeTV.

Yeah, it is pretty ... unwatchable. You have to be crushing on Lisa/Zak/Sreech something fierce to make it more than a few minutes into the show.

And good morning.
