Related: About this forumAnybody STILL having trouble streaming House of the Dragon on Fire Stick?
I know there is an issue and thousands of fans were unable to watch the premiere of House of the Dragon tonight on HBO Max using Fire Stick. My daughter is one of them. It still won't load at 11:30pm PDT (Sunday, 8/21/22). She even tried setting up a brand new 4K Fire Stick and it won't load on that one either. Everything else on HBO Max plays, just not House of the Dragon.
Hubby and I watched it just fine on 4K Roku earlier, and it's playing right now on another of our TVs on a 4K Fire Stick.
I told my daughter I'd post here to see if anyone else is still locked out of the show on Fire Stick.
We're stumped. I hope they get this fixed soon! It's ruining the premiere for a lot of people.

(20,999 posts)02:07 PT: I've restarted the 4-K Firestick and cleared the cache for the HBOMax app and still no Dragons.
EVERYTHING ELSE WORKS, including everything on HBOMax EXCEPT for Dragons. Everything, except Dragons.
The latest workaround I've heard about is having to create a new profile in HBOMax. I will give it a try, but I am resentful that I have to do a workaround to watch something I pay for.
This is HBOMax and Amazon Firestick. And you're telling me the only thing that does not work is this one program?
And what I really, really, really find fucking unacceptable is the way Amazon and HBOMax make it harder than hell to register my displeasure.
I was already getting bored with HBOMax, and only kept it around for this.

(4,820 posts)What you describe is exactly the same thing as what's happening to her. She finally got it to work on her PS4, but that meant downloading and installing the app on there, which took a bit of extra time.
I saw that a lot of people on Twitter were saying what you did about creating a new username. The general consensus was that this was working. If it's still not fixed by next Sunday, she may try that, too. But like you, it makes her feel resentful, too. As much as we pay for this stuff, it ought to work!

(20,999 posts)...and it was AWESOME!
But, as stated previously, RESENTFUL. I have to put up with the "workaround" crap at work. I pay for HBOMax.
And I'd say this is an HBOMax problem and NOT a Firestick problem.

(106,238 posts)(and admittedly that was a pleasant surprise, given it was streaming live--or maybe had just been simultaneously uploaded). But, maybe more people were trying to on the Fire Stick.
Good luck with a fast fix.

Hi there, things should be working properly again now. If you still have trouble, please try playing another program, turning the subtitles on then off, then return to #HOTD. Send us a DM if you still need help and we'll be happy to take a closer look. Thanks. ^TW
We haven't yet checked whether or not it does work now, but wanted to pass this on anyway.

(106,238 posts)More than 3,000 outages were reported across the global monitoring service Downdetector at 9 p.m. in New York, just as House of the Dragon was released.
The show is being successfully viewed by millions of subscribers, a representative for Warner Bros Discovery Inc., the parent of HBO, said in a statement. Were aware of a small portion of users attempting to connect via Fire TV devices that are having issues and are in the process of resolving for those impacted users, the representative added.
Amazon.com Inc., maker of the Fire TV product, said in a statement Monday that the problem had been resolved.
