Anyone else visiting parents for holidays and having to watch their shows?

Jeopardy which I love

Miss Universe pageant. Could have been worse. Steve Harvey not funny and pretty creepy.

Now, the worst, The Voice. Horrible song choices. No one would buy their music today if similar. Judges obnoxiously LOVE them all, no matter how mediocre.

Worst part... Commercials !!! Ahhh.

just via the internet, I am driven crazy whenever I'm visiting someone who simply has the TV on all the time, even if they are watching things I'm reasonably interested in. I'm amazed at how many people have never figured out there's an "off" switch. And those who haven't a clue it's possible to mute the set during commercials.

In an apartment my upstairs neighbors are loud as hell they have an autistic kid that stomps, runs and jumps constantly, other times the kid is using a hard ball that tap, taps when it hits the floor.

When the noise drives me crazy I leave the tv on as background noise to cover the noise of the endlessly stomping kid

Sometimes I put on music, metal sometimes makes it better.

On HUD is a miracle. The waiting list to get into this complex is obscene.I got in when it was just built. I was homeless at the time so I'm very grateful to be here.

I love this apartment it has 2 bedrooms 2 baths one with a tub and the one in my bedroom has a humongus shower and want to stay here, plus I have no way to move myself to another place.

This also is a smoke free apartment complex which I love because I never smoked .

I'm here for the long haul

However I'm not past doing some spellwork to create a offer they cant refuse so they'll move out. Not every apartment in this complex is HUD.

Many years ago I lived in an apartment and the people upstairs were a couple with a small child. I'd often hear weird noises from above. I once had the opportunity to ask the woman who lived there what was going on, and it turned out that the small child was hitting the floor with some kind of toy. I'm sure I have the specifics wrong, as this was more than 50 years ago. But the essential point about not knowing what the heck was going on is important. Had I known at the beginning what was happening, I'd have been far less annoyed and irritated. I suspect that's true for most people.

In your case you know exactly what is going on with the autistic kid, and that knowledge does not ameliorate what is happening. All too often those who live in apartments don't fully understand that neighbors can hear as much as they can.

I can only offer sympathy, and perhaps noise blocking earphones.

I just like it. Did it when a kid once 24 hour stations became common. Used to help me stay up studying or working. Nowadays, even have it on when I’m playing my mandola or bouzouki.

Sound is low, though.
