Sitting out on my covered porch for a bit, during a break in the rain this afternoon, I watched hummers coming to a feeder in the yard and resident geese out for a swim in the pond behind my house.

(15,133 posts)the geese not so much as they create quite a nuisance here.
We just installed a camera on our hummingbird feeder and we get alerts and a video every time they are around. Pretty cool.
You've got a great shot of the hummer. Very difficult to capture as well you know.

(32,576 posts)My regular bird feeders are hanging outside my fenced courtyard. The damned geese--and a pair of ducks--have been coming up from the pond to scavenge for seeds dropped by other birds rooting for their favorite seeds from the feeders. They ate the tops off some lilies before they flowered. I go out and chase them away when I see them. Worse than squirrels! But they are fun to watch. One pair had one lone gosling this year. It was quite a little fluffer.

(179 posts)A purple throated male. In the shade his throat is black/green, and his back I emerald.
When the sun hits him - a PURPLE throat, and the emerald back turns a blue that hurts my eyes.
But I can NOT get a decent video of this.
Such a joy five feet away.
Panama.
My late husband and I owned an " escape hatch" in Panama, in Bocas. We made several trips back and forth, getting everything set up. Actually got to the point where permanent resident visas were stamped in our passports. After Obama was elected, we felt we no longer needed it. Huh.
I remember seeing a lot of beautiful hummers on those trips!
