These photos are beautiful and several truly contest worthy, so exquisite the single red flower, looks almost tie-dyed, the path through the woods with the couple and their stroller, the statue at the entrance of a natural canopy, and the beautiful co-existence of those two majestic trees with their branches seemingly intertwined.
Those just happen to be my favorites.

What a photographer’s dream to visit! You’ve captured so many gorgeous images. I could never choose a favorite, but I am really fond of the second image, (the purple tulips and hyacinths), the goose in flight, and the grassy field with puffy clouds. I’d be tempted to take my easel and paints there.

Longwood has participated in some en plein air contests (according to an artist friend who was a contestant), but to paint there using an easel you'd probably have to take one of their classes. Here's a link to a class held in 2023: https://longwoodgardens.org/events-performances/events/meadow-garden-en-plein-air

Longwood prohibits the use of artist easels, tripods and monopods in the greenhouses at all times and outdoors during special events such as fountain shows and concerts. Otherwise, you'd be able to paint there, and I'd encourage you to do so if you visit Longwood.

I haven't needed to use a tripod for outdoor shots, but it would be ideal if I could use one in the greenhouses after sundown.

I'm sorry if my directing you to the plein air class link caused any misunderstanding or that I think you need beginner's lessons! I love the paintings you've posted here! BTW, the class was "geared toward those with experience painting in outdoor environments."

I haven’t painted outdoors in literally decades! So I’m definitely rusty! Not sure if and when I would ever get to Longwood …. but one never knows!

Thanks for bringing these shots to us. My favorite is the white tulips under the white barked trees. Are those birch or aspen, or ?
