El Capitan webcam night photo.

This is a saved shot because webcam links are live. You can see them at Yosemite Conservancy https://yosemite.org

Pleiades cluster is evident, as are lights of climbers. Not sure what stone other lights are, like the top of Half Dome.

Some resolution was lost by the image host. Oh well.

The live link is here, but it varies over time:

On edit: that light on top of Half Dome was a star. It "moved". Cool.

Potentially fascinating, but since it's dark now, it's hard to see anything. CaliforniaPeggy Nov 2024 #1

Nonetheless, it's worthwhile to check in now and then to see what's going on.

Thank you!

I think I saw the earlier aurora from the webcam before taking a long time exposure from home.

You can't see any of these by day, when the interesting features are clouds or snow, when they show up.

The camera must be quite sensitive to pick up stars. And have a lot of dynamic range to also work by day.

Yosemite conservancy did well!

Look hard and you shall find interesting things, one of those photographer's mottos (even if I just invented it myself)

I was looking at the Iceland webcam for an earlier aurora and took a screenshot as a meteor flashed by.

Streak in lower left.
