Well, it's finally here! For those who have seen my preview video & for those checking in for the first time...Here is my full-length documentary on the "California Zephyr" - Amtrak's Transcontinental passenger train, which runs from San Francisco to Chicago & showcasing the breathtaking scenery to be found en route.
This video is second in a 2-part series documenting our scenic land cruise across the U.S. by rail in December of 2023.
-In Part 1 we traveled from Chicago to San Francisco aboard the westbound "California Zephyr" - and made a stopover in Reno to visit Las Vegas.
-Here in Part 2 we will journey from San Francisco to Chicago on the eastbound "California Zephyr" - and witness the stunning scenery to be found en route.

(26,665 posts)The Southwest Chief from Lamy, NM, to Chicago. Then the Empire Builder from Chicago to Seattle. Next the Coast Starlight from Seattle to Los Angeles. And finally, the Southwest Chief from LA to Lamy. The entire trip will be nine days.
I love Amtrak. I've taken it several times in recent years, always get a roomette. I also prefer one on the lower level, as there's a lot more privacy there.

(26,665 posts)I live in Santa Fe, and Lamy is about 15 miles south, the nearest train station to me.
Here's a link to the page on Amtrak that has each and every train they operate. Click on whatever interests you, and then click on the map. Hmmm. A map for the Southwest Chief pops up, but I checked several others, and the map only showed a blank page.
I don't think Amtrak goes to Wyoming at all.
