Maybe the groundhog was right yesterday?!?

(15,299 posts)I cut some hellebores and brought them in thinking they’d open in a warm room. They didn’t. I’ve had buds in a vase for a week now. Not that I’m impatient for spring or anything.

(32,668 posts)I put in three different varieties and these are the first to bloom. The other two don't even have buds yet.

(15,299 posts)My hellebores took a year or so to really settle in. Mine are a variety called Pink Frost, which bud early but bloom late, if that makes sense. They’re a fairly low growing variety and spread slowly to make a lovely ground cover in a lightly shaded area.

(32,668 posts)to protect them from several nights of temps below 20 degrees. The crocus I only noticed yesterday. They sprang up seemingly overnight!
