When I lived in New Jersey I had many hosta plants and one fall I took a series of images as the plants died back for the winter.
And after the foliage had disappeared I took the dried flower stalks, laid them down like pick-up sticks and made this image.

(37,522 posts)I also have quite a few Hosta plants around my house and have posted pics of them before - they are so interesting and photogenic. I never thought to do a series like yours, however, and it’s just lovely.

that said..I find the death of plants to be somewhat depressing..
