(151,892 posts)It is indeed a cheesy dish! It's lasagna.
I was in the mood to do some real cooking, so I made this last night.
It was great.
Thanks!

(151,892 posts)I didn't take it out of the oven the minute it was done, and that may explain the appearance!
The sunlight from my kitchen window also made a difference, which is why I took the photo.

(3,339 posts)It is a good thing for me that I am sitting at Applebee's where I have just finished eating my appetizer. Bon Appetit!

(151,892 posts)However, it will take a bit of time.
I need to get it out and type it into my word program.
You'll see it in this thread a bit later today!

(151,892 posts)350 degrees, 30-45 minutes
1 pound ground round
1 onion, diced (I use dried onion)
1-8 ounce can tomato sauce
1-1 pound can stewed tomatoes
Oregano
Thyme
salt/pepper (I omit the salt)
Garlic powder
8 ounces grated mozzarella (I put in 2 cups already grated)*
2 cups grated Parmesan*
Small amount cream cheese
8 ounce lasagne noodles cooked (or the pasta that doesnt require cooking.)
Brown beef and onion.
Add sauces and spices.
Simmer 30 to 45 minutes over low heat, uncovered.
Boil water for pasta (if required.)
Cook pasta for 20 minutes till done.
Grate the cheeses.
*I use the already grated cheeses available in my supermarket. Much easier and faster, and they taste wonderful!
Layers in an oven-proof lasagne dish. (Mine is glass)
Pasta for the bottom layer.
Then the meat sauce.
Cheeses on top.
This recipe makes 2 complete layers. Dot the top layer with the cream cheese, if desired.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 45 minutes. I usually bake it for 35 minutes.
Its quite hot and heavy when done. I normally put the dish on a coordinating cookie sheet to make it easier to lift out of the oven.
Slice, serve and enjoy!
