the pelican nebula. first test with new equipment

replaced my old tracking mount with a new zwo am-5 mount. first test last night after dialing it in a little.

this is the pelican nebula in the constellation cygnus
its 4 hours worth of data (48 5 minute exposures at iso 1000)

the nebula itself is about 1800 light years away

At first I saw a flying rabbit with a pink moustache,
but that could be migraine hangover eye tricks.

I had to unfocus my gaze just slightly and the pelican appeared.

Your astronomy photos are amazing to me, and they draw out my inner Sagan. Science, it feeds my mind and my spirit. Many thanks for sharing these bountiful feasts.

its really become my new obsession. if its clear out (and not to moonlit) im out shooting now. fortunally i have a lot of it automated so i dont have to stay outside and sweat when its 90 degrees at 11pm
