The premiere of Longwood Gardens' Drone and Fountains Show was postponed last Thursday due to poor air quality from the ongoing wildfires in Canada. I had tickets and was pleased that Longwood rescheduled the show for last night. The theme: To Infinity and Beyond. Set to soaring drones and dancing fountains, beloved songs from animated movie favoritesfrom Encanto to Moana to Toy Story to many morejump off the big screen and into the sky in this delightfully fun family performance.

(4,997 posts)I feel like I missed much of the show because most of the time I was looking through a viewfinder and manually focusing the camera. It was fun and well worth the effort, but next time I attend one of these I'll leave my camera at home and watch the show with both eyes and my full attention.

Nice pictures, thanks for sharing!

(26,567 posts)I've photographed fireworks before, and know how hard they can be to capture, but I couldn't imagine trying to get a sky display and illuminated fountains composed well and with perfect exposure. Great job!

I used a handheld Canon Rebel T5i with a manually-focused 18-55mm lens. For most of the shots the camera was manually set at ISO 1600, F/4, and 1/20 second. A tripod would've helped, but their use is forbidden at Longwood.
