This song is 46 years old. The Police were so good.

(75,848 posts)I couldn't find the video of them live but this is from the soundtrack of the documentary with the same title.
This with the Blue Turtles band.
As good as this is, it's not as good as when my wife & I saw them at Alpine Valley.
They were deeper into the tour & they were tighter than a piano string by then.

(75,848 posts)Brandon Marsalis, Kenny Kirkland, Daryl Jones & Omar Hakim on sax, keys, bass & drums. Sting plays guitar but he doesn't solo at all. The 2 backing vocalists were Dollette McDonald & Janice Pendarvis.
The movie is a combination of the forming of the group & their tour debut in Paris. So, we see discussions, rehearsals & live performance.
One memorable moment is Sting explaining to them how this show differs from the jazz they're used to.
He gets them to understand that they don't have time to explore avenues during a solo but rather they have to "burn from the first note."
There's also some priceless moments in interviews with Miles Copeland on the difference in the business models of jazz & rock at the superstar level.
I highly recommend it to anybody who likes Sting or The Police.
