1. Robin's all-white outfits and shoes were great.

2. Really Nice Guy, Too

We opened for them in the mid 80s. They were still super big heat in the Midwest then, so it was quite the honor to be on the same bill, though we were aware nobody was there to see us.
All 4 guys were very pleasant sorts, especially Robin & Rick.

3. Was Tom with them still or had he already split?

I feel sorry for Bun E. They sort of kicked him out several years ago.

4. Tom Was There, But...

...he was doing his own thing with (I believe) his wife. But, it was an amicable split, so he still came to shows.
Pete something or other was playing bass, but it seemed he was not part of the in-crowd.
Tom played a few songs that night. It was, in Chicago, essentially a hometown gig for them.
Tom came back to the band a few years later. I don't recall how long he stuck around.

5. I knew Tom split from the band

due to his wife but I didn't know he still played with them a few times. You lucked out.

There were two short term replacements, Pete and Jon but the "fit was not right".
