Can an artiste and the production team who produc a cover rename the song?

There is a lovely cover of Nina’s classic - That’s all I want from you playing all day on a local station but I get angry every time the DJs call it A Little Love

...but they probably can as long as they properly credit the songwriter(s) and not pretend it's an original work simply by renaming it.
I think it's a little silly, legit or not. If a song was considered important enough to cover it, I'm not sure it makes sense to give it a new name. They'd lose any marketing edge they might have through name recognition & nostalgia.
